The Neem tree is indigenous to India and has been extensively in medicine, agriculture and households for nearly 6000 years. The earliest records of its use for veterinary care, and in particular for horses date from around 300 B.C. when the leaves were used in poultices for horses injured in battles.

All parts of the Neem tree are utilized including the leaves, bark, roots and seeds. Neem oil pressed from the seeds has both anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties, it is also mild and soothing making it useful for the topical treatment of wounds and other ailments.

It is also known for its use in disrupting fly life cycles, making it excellent for repelling flies and other biting insects.
